Trueskill Rankings

Trueskill Rankings (TM) is a method of player ranking over the popular online community of Xbox Live. Trueskill rankings are used in several games from "America's Army" to the more recent "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" for the Xbox 360.

Rankings over Xbox Live are designed to give other players a look at how well you are at certain games, in America's Army and G.R.A.W. 2 the rankings are not numerical but actual ranks in the U.S. armed forces. Starting out from a Private, and depending on the game, ending up as some tpye of officer such as a 1st. Lieutenant, Major, Colonel, etc. the player can be promoted quite easily. Trueskill Rankings are dependant of how well a player does in certain matches, usually monitoring the amount of deaths and kills in each game. [note that it is easier to rank up in some games, more difficult to rank up in others.]

Halo2 ranking system

There are other types of rankings however, such as in the popular game Halo 2 for the Xbox.

In this game the player can choose from several gametypes and play them with other players over Xbox Live. Over a certain period of time, depending on whether the player had played good or badly, the player will either rank up or down. In Halo 2 the rankings are composed of numerical levels from 1 to 50 that also consist of different colored designs around these numbers. Other players over Xbox Live can see your level from either their friends list, players list, or in specific games, their clan lists.
