Troy Fodemski

Troy Allen Fodemski (born August 18, 1963) is an American inventor and entrepreneur who co-founded Concussion Mitigation Technologies (CMT), an engineering company located in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2011. He is best known for his invention of the Smart Helmet Regulated by computer technology, the Smart Helmet releases several small airbags, couched within the helmet, upon impact. Fodemski got the idea for the helmet while watching an NFL game on television and witnessing a concussion. During that game, Fodemski learned that there was audio transmission capability within some of the athletes' helmets.<ref name="TAF-CSBJ"/><ref name="TAF-FoxNews"/> He is also the author of The March to Mediocrity, Volume I, a book of short stories.
Awards and recognition
Fodemski has contributed to several articles related to the Smart Helmet technology<ref name="TAF-Publications"/> and has been nominated for the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s 2014 Technology award.<ref name="TAF-ColGazette"/> He has also been referenced on FOX News,<ref name="TAF-FoxNews"/> KOAA5 ,<ref name="TAF-KOAA5"/> and the Smithsonian.<ref name="TAF-Smithsonian"/> In April 2014, his company CMT received the U.S. trademark right to the name “The Smart Helmet”.<ref name="TAF-NFLEvol"/>
