Toyo Tsutsuli
is a Taiwanese indie singer-songwriter, film director and artist. Because his past MusicAL participation was focused on the market in Japan, his first name in Chinese was used as his artist name in Japanese pronunciation. Toyo was born in a Taiwanese family but he is a Dutch origin from his mother's ancestry. Toyo speaks three languages, Chinese, English and Japanese.
Before 2008 : Japan
Toyo used to sing J-pop music. In 2007, he went to Japan alone to participate in some auditions and master his Japanese. In 2008, he was signed by a talent agency Artholik in Tokyo however it didn’t go well. After half of year he was back to Taiwan and stopped his career as a singer. Until 2009, he opened his myspace page. His style was close to some Japanese visual bands and started to get noticed but his music talent was still doubted by some people.
After 2010 : Electronic pop music
In 2010, Toyo changed his genre to electronic pop music and released his first English single “WONDER”. Soon it was played on HomeGrownRadioNJ in US and the other indie Radios in UK, Spain, and Poland. After that he released his second English single "Flavor" in June with a full length music video and started to get quiet reputation from Europe and Americas people. In the End of 2010, He released his first English Album “Surreal Party”. In 2011, Toyo set a page Send Love to Japan for Japan earthquake on facebook and in April 9 he released "Live again" as a theme song with music video on Youtube and it was made available for free download.
Music Career : Lonely but Stunning
Without the support from major records industries, Toyo not only performed, produced, mixed and mastered all his albums by himself but also music videos including the art designs of his work. His music is very soothing with his unique and soft voice, glamorous and wicked styles. Especially his music videos are always very aesthetical and represent his unusual visual perspective. At present, Toyo has totally over one hundred thousand fans on myspace, facebook, and Youtube oversea through the internet.
