Towtad2026 (stylised as TOWTAD2026) is a British TikTok comedy collective established on 21 June 2026. The group is primarily known for short comedy sketches, school-based humour, edited videos and recurring appearances by members of its friend group (BSB).

As of September 2026, the account has approximately 7,700 followers and 2 million likes. Followers of the account are commonly referred to as “Tads”, with some fans describing Towtad2026 as the “next Sidemen”.

Name

The name TOWTAD is an acronym representing the principal members of the group:

* T – Taylor Smith, the group’s manager

* O – Oscar Weeden, director and creative lead

* W – William Mingay, responsible for set locations and design

* T – Tommy James, actor and early member

* A – Arlo Baker, actor and cameraman

* D – Dan Mcgecan, actor and member of the group

The group has featured numerous other friends and collaborators in its videos.

History

Towtad2026 originated from a group of friends interested in making comedy videos. Tommy James is credited with coming up with the concept and initially operated an earlier version of the account, which received comparatively little attention.

The current account was subsequently established on 21 June 2026. The group began producing increasingly elaborate comedy videos, eventually experiencing rapid growth on TikTok.

Management and Creative Direction

Taylor Smith serves as the manager of Towtad2026 and has been involved in planning the group’s development. When discussing his ambitions for the account, Smith has described his primary goal as simply to “go viral”. Taylor is also very open about being homosexual.

Smith has also expressed an interest in future collaborations with other online creators.

Oscar Weeden is the group’s principal director and is credited with many of its concepts and video ideas. One of his most notable concepts involved a comedy video referencing Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and the Academy Awards. Weeden is frequently described by members and followers as one of the group’s most likeable members.

William Mingay is primarily associated with the group’s set design and locations. His house has frequently been used as a filming location. After failing almost all his GCSE’s he has taken a route into media and product design.

Tommy James is one of Towtad2026’s principal performers. He was involved in the group’s earliest development and is credited with helping establish the original concept. He has appeared in a number of the group’s recurring comedy formats, including a notable cat-themed video in which he begged to be part of.

Arlo Baker is another regular performer who has also contributed to filming and recording. He was involved in the production of several videos, including a popular Uber Eats-themed video. His filming has been described as “poor” by Leo Shale leading to some creative differences.

Dan Mcgecan is a regular actor within the group. His sister Jess has occasionally contributed ideas and assistance to the wider Towtad2026 project. Dan had a rough childhood, growing up in Glasgow and enjoys making videos with his friends.

“White Starts”

The group’s most successful video is commonly referred to by fans as “White starts”. The video recreates a comedic situation involving a game of chess and became the group’s breakthrough viral video. According to the group, the original concept came from Taylor Smith, who had seen a similar image on TikTok and suggested recreating it.

The video has accumulated approximately 8.3 million views and 2 million likes, making it substantially more successful than the majority of the account’s other uploads.

The video features Maddox Kellman and Loghan Murphy, alongside other members of the group. Kellman subsequently stopped appearing regularly with Towtad2026 following creative differences.

Another recurring member, Ben Watson, also appeared in the production, with a comedic moment involving Watson and Weeden kissing in the back becoming part of the video’s appeal. This is not the first time he has been seen kissing another male in the back of a video as he also kisses William Mingay.

Other Members and Collaborators

A number of people have appeared in Towtad2026 productions without being part of the core TOWTAD name. These include Jacob Abadeer, Maddox Kellman, Ben Watson, Loghan Lee Cameron Sturgeon Murphy, Gioia Di Monda, Ella Bryan and Leo Shale. The Towtad team would also like to give a special thanks to Erin stone, Mia Ashton, Izzy and Darcey Brown.

The group has developed an informal distinction between its permanent members and its wider circle of collaborators.

There have also reportedly been disagreements between some former or peripheral participants and the core group regarding creative decisions and involvement in the project. This includes Leo who is often mad that his initial “L” does not feature in the Towtad name on TikTok.

Towtad2026 experienced particularly rapid follower growth during the summer of 2026. The account has attracted attention from established online creators, with Vikstar and KSI among the creators regarded by the group as a long-term supporters often leaving comments.

The group has expressed ambitions to collaborate with other creators in the future such as MKBgang and Elimelo.

Criticism and Disputes

Towtad2026 has also experienced online criticism and disputes involving other accounts. The group has received hostile or mocking content from accounts using variations of the Towtad name such as F Towtad. Recently it has been found that Leo Shale and James "Jimmy" Weeden ran the account.

Some individuals have subsequently been alleged by members of Towtad2026 to have been responsible for these accounts, however to date such claims should have failed to be verified.
