Totalrock

TotalRock is a radio broadcast specialising in classic and new rock and metal music. Based in central London TotalRock streams worldwide over the internet.

Set up by radio and rock luminaries Tony Wilson, the late Tommy Vance, Boyd Steemson, Andy King, David Clouter and Nigel Roberts, TotalRock began broadcasting with a London AM license in 2000. It was a successor to the Rock Radio Network which originally went on air in 1997. The station also produced a series of shows for Sanctuary Music's “Metal-Is” website. In early 2001 TotalRock launched free to air digital satellite service.

Commercial pressures led to TotalRock losing its satellite license in 2002, however the station was already streaming all shows worldwide through totalrock.com; and such was the online success it not only survived but flourished. Indeed the station was voted the World’s best online metal station in the Onlinemetal awards 2002.

Tony Wilson was admitted to the Kerrang! Hall of Fame Award in 1995 for his 25 year career at BBC Radio 1, having produced rock shows with Tommy Vance, Alan Freeman and Claire Sturgess etc.

Malcolm Dome, the news editor at TotalRock, has been deputy editor of both Metal Hammer and Kerrang! magazines. He has also written a number of rock-star biographies.
