Timo Stein

Timo Alexander Stein (b. November 7, 1990, Berlin, Germany) is a German high school student, and the 2008 first place winner of the Jugend forscht, the German national science competition.

Timo Stein attends the Marie-Curie-Oberschule in Berlin. He currently participates in research programs in several scientific and educational facilities including the Wilhelm-Foerster-Observatory in Berlin, Germany and the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, England. In addition to cosmology he also does research with ferrofluids. He works at the Helmholtz Centre Berlin for Materials and Energy (formerly known as Hahn-Meitner-Institute), where he developed his award winning Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation project “BECOME” (“Berlin Cosmic Microwave Experiment”). His work has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers including Stern and Der Tagesspiegel. He participated in a research program regarding the optical properties of nano structures in nature at the Department of Physics, Cavendish Laboratory, at the University of Cambridge. First articles were published by Timo Stein in the German scientific journal "Sterne und Weltraum".
