Tim Livingston is an American journalist, writer, and podcast host. He is best known for creating the basketball podcast "Whistleblower".
Career
Whistleblower
The Whistleblower podcast was created by Livingston and Tenderfoot TV and focused on disgraced NBA referee Tim Donaghy. Whistleblower examines Donaghy's story and attempts to determine if he was in fact a "rogue" referee, or a small part of a larger betting scandal. The podcast also dissects the NBA's role in the scandal and Donaghy's relationship with referee Scott Foster. Livingston spent eight years investigating the scandal, becoming friends with Donaghy and his co-conspirator, Tommy Martino. The podcast provides new information about Donaghy's alleged game-fixing, Donaghy's relationship with Foster, expanding on the suspicious phone records between Donaghy and Foster, and the NBA's strategy to minimize its exposure. Whistleblower featured former NBA stars Rasheed Wallace, former NBA head coach George Karl, and Michael Franzese, a caporegime in the Colombo crime family. As a result of the podcast, Tim Donaghy was recruited to become a professional wrestling referee. The project is in development for television adaptation.
No Chill
In addition to Whistleblower, Livingston created the No Chill podcast with Gilbert Arenas. The No Chill podcast has ranked among the top sports podcasts, reaching as high as No. 1 on the Apple Charts. Livingston's affiliation with Arenas led to his relationships with other NBA stars and kickstarted his career in podcasting.
Other works
Livingston also produced projects with former NBA players Rasheed Wallace, Bonzi Wells, and Nate Robinson.
Early career
Livingston began his career as a freelance writer for ThePostGame.com, a daily online magazine produced by Yahoo Sports, covering college football, MLB, NBA, and the NFL. He then founded TheLeadSports.com, a sports news service that delivered free newsletters to sports fans while covering news around the sports world at large. The service was acquired by The Action Network in 2018.
