Tiger Woods (dog)

Tiger Woods (born February 11, 2002) is a Scottish deerhound who, As of 2007, was considered one of the top show dogs in the United States. Going into the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Tiger Woods was among the favorites to win the title of "Best in Show". Tiger Woods is owned by Gayle Bontecou, an avid golfer, and handled by Clifford W. Steele. Bontecou indicated that she named Tiger Woods after Tiger Woods because "there's nothing better than Tiger Woods." Tiger Woods was the 2009 winner of in the Hound group, and competed against six other dogs for "Best in Show." It was noted that Tiger Woods competing for the title of Best in Show at the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show came on the same date that his namesake announced the birth of his son.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, founded in 1877, is the second oldest continuous sporting event in the United States and the most prestigious dog show in the world. In 2009, Tiger Woods won the Best in Hound group and competed against six other dogs for the title of Best in Show. The eventual winner, Stump, was the oldest dog to ever win top prize. At 10 years old, Stump is 2 years older than the next oldest dog to ever win best in show and the first Sussex spaniel to ever do so. Tiger Woods, by CONTRAST was seven years old.

In 2008, he won "Best in Breed" at the Westminster Kennel Club. At the Trenton Kennel Club in 2008, he won first place for the Hound Group. As of February 10, 2009, Tiger Woods was in first place in the Hound Group according the the American Kennel Club's 125th The National Championship Standings. He won "Best in Show" at the 2008 Wachusett Kennel Club. He also received an award of merit from the Mid-Atlantic Deerhound Association.
