Thukalamkuzhiyil

Thukalamkuzhiyil is an aristocratic Christian family in Veliyanad village in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. In the earlier days they were mainly into spices trading and farming. The family members were Christian believers under Malankara Jacobite Orthodox Church. Later after the dispute and subsequent faction of the Church, family members were split and some families became part of The Jacobite Syrian Church and the others part of The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Most of the younger members of the family left their traditional profession of trading and farming and pursued other jobs in teaching, engineering and similar professions.
Some of the families played a crucial role in the establishment of St. Mary's Simhasana Church, Veliyanad.
