Theater Mitu
Theater Mitu is a not-for-profit theater company founded in 1997 and headquartered in New York, NY. Their work has been presented at a number of theatrical institutions and schools, including the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, New York University's Graduate Acting Program and Undergraduate Drama Department, and the The Juilliard School. Their artistic director is Rubén Polendo, and their dramatic methodology is called "Whole Theater"
Mission
The mission of Theater Mitu is to use the power of the theatrical to strengthen the soul of the community. The company explores and transliterates ancient ritual and performance traditions to generate a vibrant theatrical vocabulary that is called Whole Theater. Whole Theater is defined as a theatrical experience whose form is rigorously visual, aural, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Whole Theater questions theatrical form and sets out to engage both audiences and artists in work that is dynamic, forceful, and arresting.
