The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Small Business Development Center
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Small Business Development Center (UTPBSBDC) is a partnership program of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) and the North West Texas Small Business Development Center Region Network (NWTSBDC). It provides free counseling and training seminars to small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs in a sixteen county area in West Texas. Its office is located in the Center for Energy and Economic Development between Midland and Odessa.
Services Offered
Individual Business Assistance - The UTPB SBDC provides One-on-One counseling by trained professionals at no charge for persons planning to start a business as well as those already in business. This counseling can include financial analysis, business plan development, market planning, patents, copyrights, international trade, manufacturing assistance research information, and other matters.
Training - Small Business Management training offered through workshops, seminars and classes. Many of these are scheduled on an on-going basis; others are offered on demand and in-house when the need is established. Any business-related topic can be the subject of a workshop if enough interest is shown, and if no similar training is available elsewhere.
Rural Economic Development - Rural economic development is offered through a circuit rider program to interested communities. Training as well as individual counseling is available to anyone in the 16-county service area.
Contracting Assistance - The center for government contracting offers assistance in Locating and pursuing contracts with government agencies. Assistance is also provided to general contractors and sub contractors in locating bid opportunities. All services include state, local and private bid opportunities. The center provides information to disadvantaged businesses interested in becoming 8a or hub vendors.
Business Library - The UTPB SBDC offers a wide variety of business related books, tapes and videos for use by SBDC clients. Informational Resources - The UTPB SBDC has on-line access to vital resources for marketing information and research projects. Directories, manuals and other informational databases are available.
Manufacturing Assistance - The Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center offers an array of business and technical services and related technical assistance to area manufacturers. A representative is available to individuals in the 16-county service area by contacting the UTPB SBDC.
