The Sinhgad Environmental Conservation Organization (SECO)
The Sinhgad Environmental Conservation Organization (SECO) is a team of students who work to provide a platform for carrying out activities in the field of environment and energy conservation. SECO seeks to create awareness among the youth to environment related issues, sensitizes them towards the delicate balance required to be maintained between development and conservation and equips them with the necessary skill sets to carry out the related activities.
Activities
SECO provides opportunities to many undergraduate and graduate students of Sinhgad Institutes to positively bring a change in the environment around them by participating in the various activities organized by the club. A list of the activities undertaken by the organization includes:
- Energy/Fuel Audits
- Paper Bag Campaign
- Plantation Drives
- Seminars/Workshops on climate change
- Treks/Nature Trails
Collaborations
In order to fulfill these objectives, SECO has partnered with many NGO’s and organizations to provide students with an opportunity to be involved with community as well industry based projects. Students are also encouraged for university level research in the fields of alternate energy and climate change mitigation. Along with the Sinhgad Institutes, SECO has partnered with local NGO's like the Green Hills Group Pune, and corporate organizations like BSNL, WWF, UNEP and British Council, India.
