The Other Side (2010 film)
The Other Side is the upcoming 2010 mystery/comedy/drama film film. The film will star Lindsay Lohan, Woody Harrelson and Alanis Morissette, and is currently in pre-production with filming beginning in early October 2009 on a remote island of the coast of Massachusetts.
Plot
Max Mackenzie, an over-achieving science scholar tries to solve a bizarre and ultimately tragic mystery involving the residents of a remote island and ultimately discovers something she could have never predicted.
Development
Writer/director David Michaels announced in early 2008 that he was working on a script for an upcoming mystery, he called the film a mix of fantasy, horror, thriller, comedy, drama, mystery and adventure. In January 2009, Michaels announced that The Other Side was scheduled to begin filming in October that year.
Casting
On June 11, 2008 Michaels announced that he had cast both Woody Harrelson and Giovanni Ribisi in the film and revealed that ex teen queen Hilary Duff had recently read for the lead role in the film, but the following week told The Movie Blog that she was no longer interested in the part but another ex teen star was now after the role. In April 2009 it was announced that the other ex teen star was Lindsay Lohan after she told Ellen DeGeneres that she was set to begin shooting a movie in October with Alanis Morissette which was later revealed to be The Other Side, since then several other castings have been announced, including Kieran Culkin, Dave Matthews and Maynard James Keenan.
Controversies
In June 2009 it was revealed that a rail thin Lindsay Lohan had been ordered by director/writer David Michaels to gain weight for her role in the film as she was meant to be playing a 'normal' 20 something girl. Director Michaels told several magazines and websites that Hilary Duff had auditioned for the lead role of Max Mackenzie in the film but later changed her mind on the part, the following month Duff denied ever reading for the part yet several people involved in the film have claimed that she was in fact involved in the film briefly but never officially got the part.
