The Mess of the Senses

The Mess of the Senses is a novel by Algerian writer Ahlam Mosteghanemi published in 1997 by Naufal Publishing House.
Plot
The story starts by following a man with a strange and confused life philosophy. He meets another character, a woman who is a little weak. The story describes their relations, until shortly after the author steps into the novel. The author discovers a strange match between her novel and reality, as she finds that the movie theatre where a date night was arranged in the book, actually exists and is showing a movie during the specified time. The author finds herself driven to see the movie and is surprised to find out that she is the protagonist of the novel.
The incidents start to lap over each other when she meets a person who she thought is “the chosen one” and who looks like the protagonist of the first part. This makes the impression on the reader that he comes from her trilogy “Memory in the flesh”, a sensual love story between a painter and a young Algerian novelist with the background of the Algerian revolution. It also talks about the heritage of Constantine.
