The McAtrix Derided

The McAtrix Derided, written by Adam Roberts (using the pseudonym Robertski Brothers) is a parody of The Matrix. It is the story of Nemo, who finds out that the world which he lives in is not real and is taken from it by Thinity, who he secretly loves. Under the guide of their leader, Smurpheus, Nemo and Thinity find out if Nemo really is the mystical, powerful and mythical 'No One'.

The book is written in three parts: Part I, The McAtrix Derided. Part II, The McAtrix Rederided. Part III, The McAtrix Rerederided or The McAtrix Derid'd.

In Part I, Nemo discovers that the world which he lives in is really The McAtrix, and is taken from it by Thinity and Smurpheus. On board their ship, the Jeroboam, he is, bizzarely, taught how to dance. At the end of the part, he finally tells Thinity how he feels, and gets rejected.

In Part II, he finds out, through a series of hard events, that he truly is the No One, and he tries using his power to do good.

In Part III, he confronts the owner and creator of the McAtrix, the all-powerful 'Bill' (joke AbOUT Bill Gates). He finds out the true nature of the McAtrix and also the true nature of the real world, and is also offered a horrific choice...

List of main characters: - Nemo (parody of Neo) is the main character. He is supposedly the mythical 'No One', and has to go through some hard work to find out. He has a secret love for Thinity, and expresses it at the end of Part I.

- Thinity (parody of Trinity) is the plastic-clothed companion of Nemo, and is unaware of his passion for her. She helps Nemo escape the McAtrix, and she works for Smurpheus, a hero of the rebellion against the McAtrix.

- Smurpheus (parody of Morpheus) is the leader of the crew aboard the Jeroboam, Smurpheus' ship. While in the McAtrix, his 'avatar' is a tall, muscular man with a deep, booming voice. In the real world, he is small, weak, feeble and skinny, and he is very sensitive of his height.

- Tonkatoi (parody of Tank) is a member of Smurpheus' band of rebels. He speaks in 'Cockney Slang', saying things like 'Owi?' (pronounced 'O-wie') instead of 'alright'.

- Bill (not a parody, just a reference to Bill Gates) is the creator, owner and editor of the McAtrix. He is only featured in the story in Part III, when he meets Nemo and explains the nature of the world.

The artwork on the cover of the book is similar to the artwork on the covers of the rest of Roberts' parodies.
