The Leap Year

The Leap Year are an indie rock band from Perth, Western Australia.

Biography

Formed by four friends in May, 2006, The Leap Year's first performance was a solo set played by Rob Schifferli in support of Low in July 2006. The band is composed of previous members of Melbourne act Minor Ache, and Perth acts The Tricks and The Stickfigures.

The sound of the band has been described as 'slow and mainly minor while also being very engrossing' and has been compared to the music of Slint and Red House Painters.

The band has recorded their first release with Al Smith at Begerk studios in Perth. The album was mixed by Simon Struthers and mastered by Bob Weston. The band was signed to Hobbledehoy Records in July, 2007.
