The Impressionables

The Impressionables were a 3 piece alternative rock band from Epsom, Surrey. They consisted of Sebastian English, Thomas Rushton and Christopher Morrant, between 2004 and 2006 when Chris moved to Lincoln for university.

Biography

Early Days

The Band started with some jam sessions between Sebastian English and Isaac Proud, who later co-formed and left Souplessluc, as Latent Impressions. Shortly after Isaac's departure in mid 2004 school friend Steven Wishart joined Sebastian on bass. The following October Christopher Morrant joined on drums and they started writing and gigging. The next March Steve left leaving the duo without a bassist until the following October. This period was spent writing, rehearsing and recording the Too Scared To Speak EP, of which only 50 copies were made and were mostly given out as demos to venues in London and elsewhere.

Symbiotic

In late 2005 Thomas Rushton joined to replace Steven on bass. The band spent the end of that year into the beginning of 2006 playing a large number of gigs whilst negotiation with producer, Oliver Daffern, started AbOUT the possibility of recording an album. In February the band started recording Symbiotic, which was to be their debut album. After spending nearly 7 months in the studio, Symbiotic was finally released on the 9 September 2006. It was well received by a small but enthusiastic audience.

Shortly after Symbiotic's release, however, the band fell into decline following Chris's move to Lincoln. After brief experimentation with the idea of having a deputy drummer the Impressionables played a final gig on the 30th of December 2006, and separated; having decided they have gone their separate ways both musically and personally.

Future

Though on good terms there are no plans for a reunion. However, Sebastian and Chris are pursuing various other musical projects. Chris Morrant pursues a solo project named Citizen-M whilst Sebastian had a musical directorship with a theatre company for the first half of 2007 and has developed a solo project entitled The Arachne Complex. In Autumn of 2007 he plans to release an EP which will be sold on a donations basis. Samples up on myspace suggest a more electronic direction than previous material written for the Impressionables.
