The Graystones

The Graystones are an American pop-rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The group is notable for being composed primarily of pre-teen musicians aged 10–12 at the time of formation. Despite their young age, The Graystones have drawn local media attention for their strong musicianship, stage presence, and early success performing in Bay Area venues.

2023-2025

The Graystones began in 2023 when drummer Grayson and bassist/backing-vocalist Max—both around ten years old—started playing together in the Bay Area. The lineup soon expanded to include vocalists Izzy and Hope, forming the core group that would become The Graystones. The band began by performing covers of 1970s pop and rock songs at community events and local venues.

Soon after their formation, The Graystones began uploading performance videos to YouTube. Their cover of I Can't Tell You Why by Eagles went viral in mid-2025, surpassing 2.7 million views and drawing praise from older rock fans and vocal coaches alike. They have since achieved multiple million-view videos.

2026-present

At the start of 2026, a majority of the original members of The Graystones is stepping away from the band and beginning a new musical chapter together, under the name The Turnarounds. In a YouTube video, the band's manager, Taylor (Grayson's older sister), announced the change in line-up without providing further details. The Graystones continue to perform with new members, including bassist Grey and guitarist Summer.

Musical style

The Graystones’ repertoire is focused heavily on 1970s pop and rock cover songs—classic hits from bands such as the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Toto. For example, they have performed “I Can’t Tell You Why” and “Hold the Line”. Their style combines melodic guitar-driven arrangements with tight vocal harmonies—sung by Izzy and Hope—bringing a youthful but unexpectedly sophisticated sound.

Viral videos and YouTube presence

The Graystones’ YouTube channel has become a key part of their profile. Their most-viewed video to date is their cover of “I Can’t Tell You Why” by the Eagles, which crossed over 3.9 million views within weeks of release. The link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCIdMOt9iVk

In addition, the band's videos have attracted attention from various music-training communities; for example, vocal coach The Vocalyst analyzed one of their live-in-studio performances on YouTube and commented on the precision of their harmonies, the clarity of the young vocalists, and the professionalism of the presentation.
