The Divergents
The Divergents are a grunge rock band formed in 2004 in Moulins, France. Along with the Chocolate, Drycan, and many others, they are often credited as one of the leading underground bands of the 2000s grunge revival.
History
The band consisted of Alex (18 years, guitar/vox) and of his young brother, Julien (14 years, drum kit) The Divergents didn’t play gigs during several months, the time to refine its new compositions, to strengthen its basslines, to acquire a certain maturity and to go up the new set which will allow them after putting the band on stage to the test to record a first 13 tracks album, mixed and produced by GG at 8PM Studio, in the side of their cousin Sly (Rita mitsouko, GL band (Trust, Paul personne) and Julien, bass player of this last one who decide to join the band in order to make the future promotional dates (Bistroy, Ninkasi coffee).
Musical Style
The Divergents have cited Nirvana, Hüsker Dü, The Distillers, Silverchair, Pixies, Pagoda, and Radiohead as their main influences. The common craze and the deep desire to produce a corrosive sound mixing with melancholic and acid pop was what largely stimulated the two brothers to form this band. The album "A blast from the past" apparently stands out as a disk characterized by an eclecticism of rhythms, textures and melodies, likely to capsize the heart and to leave without voice.
