The Demons of Razgriz

The Demons of Razgriz can be found in the Ace Combat series by [[Namco]](TM), namely [[Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War]](TM). They consisted of a group of pilots from the Sand Island Naval Air Station in the Osean Federation. The squadron was also known as, in different points in the game: The Wardog Squadron, The Sand Island Squadron, The Ghosts of Sand Island, The Ghosts of the Razgriz, and The Aces of Razgriz. The Demons consisted of 5 members over the course of the game. All people and places are fictional.

'''Blaze'''(the player-character)-Blaze is often referred to as Kid as if it was the character's name. He started the game as Wardog 4, but because captain Bartlett was shot down, Blaze was promoted to captain ( Wardog 1) of the squadron. Being captain gives him the right to give commands. Those commands effect which missions you will do. After saving the president, the Wardog squad becomes the president's personal air fleet, the Razgriz air defense squadron. Blaze becomes Razgriz 1.

'''Edge'''- Kei Nagase, also known as Razgriz 2 and Wardog 2, was Bartlett's wing-women before he was shot down. She blames herself for him being shot down all thru the game until Bartlett comes back. She becomes Blaze's wing-woman throughout the remainder of the game. She is an officer in the Osean Air Force. After a rescue attempt at a POW camp in Yuktobania, she is promoted to captain. She is intent on watching Blaze's back at all times. She has a very obsessive personality, intense and uncompromising. Nagase is the one whom introduces the player to the legend of the Razgriz.

'''Chopper'''- First Lieutenant Alvin H. Davinport, also known as Razgriz 3 and Wardog 3, is Blaze's smart-alec third wing. He is a great source of comic release, ready for combat at all, and a big fan of rock and roll. He meets his demise after going down in a mission over November City. His spot is later filled by a fellow captain in the Navy.

'''Archer'''- Hans Grimm, also known as Razgriz 4 and Wardog 4. He is a rookie (nugget) who's sole mission is to kiss up to the Captain and gain combat experience. He joins the squadron during a Yuktobanian bombing raid on Sand Island, filling the empty forth wing spot left by Blaze when Blaze filled in for Bartlett.

'''Swordsman'''- Captain Marcus Snow, also known as Razgriz 3, he is seen early on in the game but does not join Razgriz until later in the game after The Demons are recovered after splashing down.

==Legend==

The story of Razgriz can best be described as a roller coaster with many ups and downs. The Wardog squad was a group of [...] machines that were infamously known as the Demons of Razgriz after destroying the Hrimphaxi submarine. At this high point in their popularity, Chopper dies when he gives up on trying to bail out of his crippled aircraft. The team have to fly away from their base because the base commander thinks that POPS and the Wardog squad are spies for Belka. They are "shot down and killed" while on the run ( by Snow) and later are taken in by captain Anderson, the captain of the Osean aircraft carrier Kestral. The Yukobanians and the Belkans now refer to the squad as the Ghosts of Razgriz because they were all shot down and reported dead.

== History ==

The history behind the Demons of Razgriz is not a complex one. The Wardog squadron defeated the Yuktobanian submarine, Hrimfaxi, in the Razgriz straits, north of Yuktobania. The Yuktobanian fleet then began referring to them as the Demons of Razgriz, after a legend of a dark demon who rose from the straits, raining death upon the world, only to die, arising from its slumber a great hero.
