The Crimson (song)
"The Crimson" is the sixth song from Atreyu's second full-length album, The Curse.
The song is 4 minutes and 1 second long and is a single released from the aforementioned album. It once again explores sing/screamer Alex Varkatzas's vampiric obsession. Many of Atreyu's songs talk AbOUT vampiric things, which has been reported to occur because Alex Varkatzas is a fan of Anne Rice novels, which mainly deal with vampires. "The Crimson" actually says, "..I am an Anne Rice novel come to life". The song "The Crimson" talks mainly about vampiric immortality, with the chorus of "Will you still hold me, when you see what I have done? Will you still kiss me the same, when you taste my victim's blood?", with Brandon Saller on vocals. He also talks about Robert Smith, lead singer of the English rock band The Cure, due to Personal experience Alex felt the song "Boys Don't Cry" wasn't/isn't true, the exact line in the song is "Robert Smith lied boys do cry".The song has shown influences from such films as the lost boys also says "to become what I became" which is a direct quote from the film/book Interview with the Vampire.
This song is supposedly about doing lots of things in your life that were mistakes and that you regret. This claim has been made by Alex Varkatzas himself, one mention was at the Give it a Name 2006 at the Manchester MEN Arena. However, this claim could be nothing more than a little white lie. It also covers his deep fears of smeg and what it may do to him if it catches him sleeping unguarded.
