The Cityscape Riot

The Cityscape Riot are an electronic band from Hobart, Australia, consisting of Joseph Cityscape and Jay Riot.

Biography

The Cityscape Riot emerged from Joseph Cityscape's and Jay growing love of electronic music. The two musicians had first became friends when attending Rosetta High School (Hobart, Australia) in 1995 when both were in grade 8. They have played together in various bands ever since, these bands are as follows: MJ12 (1998), The View (2001), Pleasure Pattern Museum (2005) and The Cityscape Riot (2007). They were an Unearthed feature artist on Triple J (Australian national radio broadcaster) in November 2007, which got their music frequently played on the J's as well as on ABC 1 and ABC 2 television. In January 2008, Joseph Cityscape moved from Hobart to Brisbane to finish off his painting degree at Griffith University. Jay Riot stayed in Hobart. In February 2008, the J-Mag (Triple J Magazine), which was devoted to electronic music down under that month, touted The Cityscape Riot as one of the most EXCITING up and coming electro bands in Australia. The Cityscape Riot released their debut E.P ‘Technodome Nights’ on July 25, 2008 and are currently promoting it across Australia.

Live Performances

The Cityscape Riot performances mix live electronics, guitar, ebow, synths, and vocoder with live drums and vocals. Shows are performed on dimly-lit stages that have been lit up by laser beams being attached to both band members finger tips and battery powered t-shirts that move to their music.

‘Technodome Nights’ is the The Cityscape Riot’s debut E.P. The entire album took Joseph Cityscape around 3 month’s to conceive, record, mix and master. ‘Technodome Nights’ was released on July 25, 2008. All songs written by Joseph Cityscape.
