The Celestial Hunt

The Celestial Hunt is a fiction novel written by debutant author Devikumar Ramalingam. The Celestial Hunt is a story blended with spirituality and philosophy based on Sangford’s mysterious book Providential Psyches. The novel is a product of a thoroughly researched book which takes readers into the immeasurable depths of the undiscovered; a quest for the unknown. The story has taken place in Hyderabad and Philippines respectively. There are references to population bottleneck theory and details of lemurian civilisation in the story.
The Celestial Hunt is the first book by Devikumar Ramalingam who was born in Trichy. After completing Electronics & Communication Engineering from Alagappa College of Engineering & technology, Karaikudi, he started working as Software Engineer in Tata consultancy Services, Chennai. He has written many unpublished short novels including “The Awakening”, “The Disconnected” & “The Champion”.
Plot
Hyderabad: Koushik, an average school student takes a mysterious book with wild brown snake picture on its cover named “Providential Psyches” from his father - Sankara Narayanan’s mini library. Sankara Narayanan is one of the famous authors and Vidhyalakshmi, Koushik’s mother is a renowned doctor. Koushik’s teacher - Jaidev had discussed the illustriousness of this rare book the previous day. Koushik shares the book with Jaidev with utmost pride. When Koushik and Jaidev start reading the book, a nasty accident takes place near them and eventually they lose their “Providential Psyches” Jaidev and Koushik start searching for the most significant book but lose their way. They are severely injured in devastating twin blasts while they travel to a village to locate the lost book. The blasts and the aftermath have an irreparable and life changing impact on Jaidev.
Philippines: Long time lovers - Edwin and Rebecca Graham meet at Honeymoon Island, Isabella, Philippines on the eve of Edwin’s birthday. Rebecca presents a unique painting to Edwin with letters Sangfroid engraved on its borders. The painting enthrals Edwin as it contains a huge brown fly wheel and the frame is filled with designs of pyramids, sphinx and peculiar sketches. Rebecca leaves for India to continue her research on novels and says she has planned to meet prominent authors in India. After few weeks, Edwin gets a book titled “Providential Psyches” from a college library and starts reading it. The picture on the book’s cover and Rebecca’s gift look similar. The book contains the stories of a- strong warrior who conquered the world and a bold, kind hearted nurse. Part of the book is written in English and the other part in Tamil-Brahmi script, the language that belonged to lemurians.
The story ends with a promise of a sequel.
Release
The first edition of Celestial Hunt was published in March 2010 by Kaveri Pathipakkam. The ebook version of the book was released by Jan 2014 in all major online stores.
