The American Standards

The American Standards is a 2007 film written and directed Joe Wehinger. It has an all-star cast led by Golden Globe winner James Brolin, Tia Mowry, Kirk Kepper, Emmy nominee Corin Nemec and Golden Globe nominee Joanna Cassidy. The film also features Golden Globe nominee France Nuyen, Ed Lauter, Peggy Walton-Walker and introducing Lindsay Richards.

Premise

The American Standards portrays an American family. Finding himself at a life crossroad after marriage problems, Doc Jennings (Nemec) goes to his parents' home to celebrate his mother, Ann's birthday (Cassidy). While family and friends seem to think everything's fine, he notices some dramatic changes between his mother and father, Jack (Brolin). He stays at their home afterward and learns the dark secrets of his seemingly perfect family. Lies, affairs, and afflictions. Then after a life-threatening accident, the family realizes they have to come together. After bitter fights and twists in fate, the house slowly becomes a home, recognizing....it's never too late. .

  • One of the main characters in the film suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. This film has received full support from Alzheimer's Organization.
  • The film was shot in Natchitoches, Louisiana shortly after New Orleans was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. Natchitoches, made famous for the setting of Steel Magnolias, is a sleepy bed and breakfast town resting beautifully along Cane River.
