The 88 Club
The 88 Club
The 88 Club is a charitable organisation open to all past and current members of The University of Exeter. It is notable for events such as The Sunday Dining club. The club was created in October of 2007 and was founded by five members; Toby Sheehan, Rhys Howells, Andrew Mulreany, Peter Whitaker and Henry Waterfield. Within the first year the notable events had not only raised the profile of the organisation within the local area but had drawn several more members including Joshua Rylah (brother of Oz Rylah) who was the creator of the notable 'Tommole' event which raised several thousand pounds for local charities.
The 88 Club still thrives today and currently is located in Park Road, the Mount Pleasant area of Exeter and maintains strong links with Exeter University.
The 88 club was originally know as the Holland A9 club, before moving its headquarters and becoming far more selective AbOUT members that could join. After the move it was decided that The 88 Club would become exclusively all male, although females are allowed on the new premises, some members most notably Joshua Rylah maintain the old laws by themselves not bringing females onto the premises.
The 88 Club has many links with venues based in Exeter, these include Timepiece, which holds its weekly meeting for members on a Friday evening, and Mosaic which holds notorious events for the club in conjunction with 4play events.
