Teresa Tomeo
Teresa Tomeo is an American Catholic broadcaster, journalist, and author.
She has received recognition for her work from the Associated Press, The Detroit Press Club, and the American Women in Radio and TV. Tomeo began working as a reporter/anchor for WKBD-TV 50 in Detroit, Michigan and then reported for the ABC affiliate, WXYZTV Channel 7. Her assignments at Channel 7 took her across the country covering some of the most significant stories of the ‘90s, including the Oklahoma City bombing and the 1995 visit to the United States by Pope John Paul II.
Tomeo later left television news to work in the Catholic media and currently hosts a talk show called "Catholic Connection which airs on Ave Maria Communications five days a week. She is the author of two books, "Noise: How Our Media-Saturated Culture Dominates Lives and Dismantles Families", and "NEWSFLASH! My Surprising Journey from Secular Anchor to Media Evangelist". She is also known for appearances on the Bill O'Reilly show, O'Reilly Factor. She has been an outspoken critic of what she calls "the secular media." Tomeo has stated that most people who have identified themselves as "pro-choice" have been misled by the media. Tomeo has said, "Most pro‐abortion folks don’t realize they are simply buying into the rhetoric of the secular news media whose working members are pros at promoting the pro abortion agenda."
Political Activity
Tomeo has been a critic of President Barack Obama and a strong supporter of President George W. Bush. Tomeo, who has done work for the Republican Women's Club of Grosse Pointe, has often used her radio show as a political platform, saying, " I get really frustrated with people who complain about the moral situation in this country but never bothered to go out and vote for the pro-life/pro-family candidates." In a letter to a Catholic who supported Obama, Tomeo wrote that she would not back down on her outspoken criticism of President Obama.
