Tarmour
The Tarmour is a heavy armoured personnel carrier developed in india. It is based on the conversion of ageing Soviet T-55 medium tanks inventories. It have protection similar to MBTs coupled with mobility and maneuverability.
- Armour
It uses indigenous Kanchan heavy composite armour, similar to the British Chobham. Protection can be improved by adding Explosive reactive armor blocks. Tarmour's armor provides all-round protection against RPG-7 rounds.
- Armament
The Tarmour is armed with a Stabilised Remote Controlled weapons station (SRCWS) with 12.7-mm machine gun, operated by vehicle's commander.
- Crew
Vehicle has a crew of two and provides accommodation for 9 troops. Troops enter and leave the vehicle through the stern door. Vehicle is fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems.
- Engine
More powerful Detroit 8V92TA diesel engine developing 850 hp, have replaced original engine of the T-55. The vehicle weights AbOUT 45 tonnes and have a maximum road speed of 50 km/h and range of 400 kms.
- Multipurpose
Vehicle can be altered to suit specific requirements. It can be also used as Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV), armoured ambulance, armored combat engineering vehicle such as earth mover and mine plough or Roller
