Pastors

Tangier Road Baptist Church employs various experienced pastors for different purposes.

Senior Pastor

Freddie is the senior pastoral leader of the congregation, working alongside his wife, Jane Brookes. Freddie preaches and ministers frequently to both TRBC and other churches, local and abroad. Freddie's vision for the Church includes:

Freddie and Jane Brookes|
  • Passion and Vision

"We have a deep burden and passion to teach God’s word. Firstly to believers, so that they can know Jesus better and make Him more fully known. We believe in equipping, training and delegation of ministry. In other words that God’s people would know who they are (in Christ) and what God has called them to do. Secondly to evangelise the lost, that they may realise how much God longs for them to be sons & daughters of the living God".

  • Prayer

"Prayer changes things and the potential is enormous. We believe that literally nothing happens without prayer. But the flip side is challenging i.e. a prayerless church is a dying church".

  • Worship

"We believe our act of worship should be reflective, responsive and vibrant. However, worship is more than singing a hymn or song or even coming to church; it is a lifestyle".

  • Leadership

"We believe in a team ministry and would see ourselves as team leaders".

  • Mission

"We believe the local Church needs to go out beyond its four walls into the community. This is caught rather than taught and therefore needs to be modelled by the team leader and leadership team".

On special occasions such as Christmas and New Year's Eve, Jane takes care of the congregation's catering requirements.

Youth and Student Pastor

Dan Harman is a 2nd generation pastor with over ten years experiences helping run a non-denominational church. After studying under Hampstead Bible College in the early days of his minstry, Dan also took on the role of preaching. His main theme of sermon to this day is 'life-application'.

Leadership

The Tangier Road Baptist Church leadership team consists of four people. Paul and Julie Keeping and Denis and Eileen Smith take the role of helping Church members recognize their giftings, and how these giftings can be used to help the congregation grow and prosper.

Meetings

Weekly, Tangier Road Baptist Church holds several meetings for a range of ages and audiences. The main meeting is held on a Sunday, and includes two periods of worship separated by a main sermon. The Sunday talk is usually presented either by Freddie Brookes, Dan Harman or Hayley Young, but not always. Before the Sunday worship and sermon service begins, a prayer meeting takes place from 8:00AM till 9:00AM, with the main service starting at 10:30AM and finishing at 12:30AM.

On Friday evenings, a meeting takes place for youths (11-16 year olds). Known as RegenR8, the youth group was established in September 2008, and the leadership team includes Dan Harman, Dan Keeping, Laura Harman, Kez Keeping, Matthew Ward, Andy Sharkey and Jess Ferris. Various activities, including football, ping pong and pool, are offered free of charge, while a tuck shop is available for light refreshments. RegenR8 is funded only by the money received through the tuck shop.
