Tamil Church Atlanta
The first Tamil worship service in Atlanta was organized in one of the Baptist Churches in the city in the year 1994 under the leadership of Georgia Baptist missionary Norma Charles. And it was recognized by the name Atlanta Tamil Church. Since then there have been 4 pastors that has guided the Church in doing the mission work in the Greater Atlanta area. But due to some months of inactivity the name was later claimed by another start up group which registered it and holds on to it. But the initial Church was re-initiated under the leadership of a young pastor named Rev. Sam Raj.
Now the original Church was renamed as The First Tamil Church of Atlanta under the Rev. Sam Raj. The First Tamil Church Atlanta or FTC Atlanta sponsored by BridgeWay Church (Rev. Doug Turner), Georgia Baptist Convention, Norther American Mission Board worships every Sunday at 5 pm at the BridgeWay Church in Alpharetta.
The First Tamil Church Atlanta, surprisingly has a good number of Tamils from India, Sri Lanka, America and is also attended by Caucasians and Blacks. The service is a BLEND of liturgic and contemporary styles to have a balance in the worship style.
