Tamara Eastman
Tamara Eastman is an author and historian residing in Petersburg, Virginia, best known for her research on women pirates. Eastman is the author of The Pirate Trial of Anne Bonny and Mary Read (Fern Canyon Press, c. 2000), which discusses the career, subsequent arrest and trial of two of the most famous women pirates in history, adding that The Only Reason they're so infamous is because they were captured alive.
Eastman holds a B.A. in history from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, and is currently working toward an M.A. in military history. When not lecturing on piracy at various museums or universities worldwide, Eastman can be found working as an historical consultant and interpreter for various sites in Virginia, including "The Citie of Henricus," a recreation of the second permanent English colony in the New World, and is a military historian for the Department Of Defense at Fort Lee, Virginia.
