SXC (Musician)
SXC (born Steven Crossley; in Romford, Essex, United Kingdom) Has been noted in the past as a contribution to the ameteur EDM scene and a long running producer in the modern underground scene. SXC is the name used by musician Steven Crossley for all his house productions. In the past, the guise has also been used for trance productions by Steven, however his trance productions are now produced under the Ronnie Cross guise. Over the years, SXC has been noted for his continuing targets to help shape the modern ameture trance community.
History
- 1997 - SXC was established as Steven's first guise, when he originally started producing back in 1997. His first track 7Moons was a local hit, and was what drove him to furthering his sound.
- 1999 - This was a breakthrough year, as he had started to experiement across the country, working along side fellow ameteur artists, and working alongside unions in the progression of modern dance music.
- 2000 - In 2000, SXC had released his first album, titled "Modern Ways", which was his first gateway towards success. It had certainly given him a kick start, as people across the united kingdom were now aware of SXC.
- 2002 - 2002 saw the breakthrough for SXC as he had started preparing for his second album (later to be titled "Greater than..." and had featured work collaborating alongside Christine Cortez, opera singer from California. This was Steven's first collaboration, and one which was to grow in the near future.
- 2003 - Greater Than... was released to the general public, along side the title track, Bella (South Fire). An original mix was released, along side a dub mix. Steven's new chillout guise Crystal Clear saw light with the release of Crystal Clear - Crystal Clear, which was the 1st of 2 Crystal Clear trance tracks, before settling down to chillout. Christine appears once again in the Crystal Clear track, "Waiting to See You".
- 2004 - Crystal Clear takes a step back, whilst SXC continues strive for working towards a modern era. The 3rd album is now in progress, and sees the creation of tracks such as Violence, and Repulse. Work is started on a new project collaboration between SXC, DJ Adi, Michael McLannen, Joe Truby and DJ Staxx. SXC heads the project which is essentially a trance based comunity for aspiring artists. The community begins its life under the name, "@Trance".
- 2005 - The album gets a release, and includes two of SXC's older tracks, "Vague" and "Southern Shore". Whilst featuring a track titled Changes, and inspired by the bruce Hornsby track "Thats the way it is", and so the album is titled Changes as a new era is born. Continuing progression of the digital era in trance music, @Trance becomes @TranceFM, shortly before settling for a permanent name change of ATFM. 2005 saw artists such as Paul van Dyk, MissXS and Lee Haslam supporting the community, and providing InterViews based on how they started in the scene, and pointers for beginners. ATFM saw new additions to the team, DJ Biats, DJChris, Mark Hills, DJ Serephine, Chris Johnson and Fred Peck.
- 2006 - ATFM ceased to continue as a mutual agreement by all participants to go their own ways.
- 2007 - SXC has spent the last year making his return to the trance scene following travels across Asia and the states. It has been a busy year for Steven, as he has seen recognition from Anjunabeats and Mondo, and is in talks with mondo AbOUT potential opportunities. To celebrate 10 years of SXC, the name has now been put back to house productions only, and now runs alongside the Ronnie Cross guise for modern trance productions.
