Suzuki St. Pierre

Suzuki St. Pierre (real name Byron Wu) is a fictional recurring character in the American dramedy series Ugly Betty. He is played by Alec Mapa.

Background

Suzuki is a high-profile reporter for the cable channel "Fashion Buzz", where he revels in reporting on the situations of the going-ons at "MODE" magazine and especially with the entire Meade family. This type of banter, combined with his flamboyant and supposedly-gay approach to reporting adds to the intensity featured in the show's ongoing storylines while talking to the viewers. Although when he was seen as a recurring regular in the second season, his profile has gotten visible with more episodes, most notably in the third season.

Intrestingly, the truth AbOUT Suzuki would be revealed in the 2009 episode "Sisters on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," in which Betty Suarez and Daniel Meade discover that "Suzuki St. Pierre" was actually Byron Wu, a straight guy who was married with 2 sons and living a normal life in New Jersey. He explained the reason he was using the alias was that all his life he wanted to be taken seriously as a journalist but the only way that he can get ahead was to take advantage of what was available, which was celebrity reporting, thus the "Suzuki" alter-ego.
