Susan Baragwanath

Susan Baragwanath is a New Zealand educationalist and political candidate.

Baragwanath is best known for establishing He Huarahi Tamariki, a school which aims to give "a second chance" to teenagers whose education was interrupted by unplanned childbirth. She founded He Huarahi Tamariki in 1994, having studied similar schools while on an Eisenhower Fellowship to the United States. Previously, she was deputy principal of Porirua College, having graduated with a BA, an MA, and a Diploma in Education. In recognition of her work, Massey University awarded her an honorary doctorate in 2005.

Baragwanath is now attempting to launch a political career, standing as a candidate for The New Zealand First party. She is contesting the seat of Auckland Central, and is ranked eighth on New Zealand First's list.
