Streetkind

Streetkind is an American rock band from Miami Beach, Florida that was formed in 2004.

Early History

Streetkind was founded in 2004 by vocalist Matt Messina and best friends Enrique Margulis and David Pollack. In 2005, Messina met prolific and industrious songwriter Alex 'The Wizard' Bodnar (Scott Stapp), and the two instantly connected; after many 12-hour days and nearly 25 writing sessions, the pair churned out nearly 30 new tracks. This intensely creative period would prove to be a critical time for Streetkind, and during this time, Messina began searching for new musicians to collaborate with, and new mediums to hone his vocal and songwriting talents.

Recent History

Nearly 18 months after meeting Bodnar, Messina commenced talks with gifted producer Ron St. Germain (Michael Jackson,U2,Jimi Hendrix,311, Tool, Soundgarden, Bad Brains), to produce Streetkind's first album. The album, which features the current Streetkind lineup with Messina (vocals), Jacin Nagao (guitar), Roberto Castillo (bass), and Daniel Wills (drums); as well as several songs by Bodnar, is titled "Medicine Man", and is slated for release in May 2009. Streetkind is also launching a national tour, which kicked off February 29, 2009 at Miami's American Airlines Arena. At this concert, Streetkind opened for artists Sean Paul and T.I.. Aside from the fact that this was Streetkind's national tour debut, this concert is also notable because it was T.I.'s last concert before turning himself in for criminal sentencing.

Record Label

Streetkind is signed to Sweetpine Records, which was founded by Messina, (Enrique) Margulis, (David) Pollack, and Mikaela Dworken.
