No. 26 was the home of Jim Robinson whose wife had died ten years previously and since that time he'd been living with his mother-in-law Helen Daniels along with his four children - Paul, Julie, Scott and Lucy. No. 28 was originally bought as a house for bank manager Des Clarke and his future wife Lorraine Kingham.
The first episode started with Danny Ramsay suffering from a nightmare about the rest of his neighbours laughing at him and his brother Shane getting injured by a car his premonition later came true after both were involved in a car crash with a getaway car and ends Shane's diving career. Tom tried to get Izzy to admit to it as it was hurting his new friend Susan but she threatened to report him to the bishop if he said anything. As Tom's feelings for Susan grew he wondered about giving up the priesthood but Susan was warned by Tom's assistant that he'd once almost quit the priesthood for her. - 2005: 2005 saw Neighbours turn 20 and also was its most sensational year starting with a bang and ending with a crash and a new opening titles sequence focusing on the younger characters.
At the beginning of the season, Lassisters had burnt to the ground and Paul Robinson had returned. With Stuart and Sindi still stuck in the pub, Toadie was frantic and begged Senior Constable Steiger to help with the rescue effort, he kept ringing Sindi's phone and heard the ring tone proving that they were still alive. In the hospital Sindi was cleared but Stuart had lost his eyesight, Toadie had also figured out that Sindi was falling for Stuart and ended their relationship and when Stuart was released from the hospital he moved in with Sindi to No.28. Karl had problems with writing Charlie's death certificate and the police inquiry coupled with Michael's accusations meant that Steph was charged with [...]. When Paul returned he appeared to be genuine, offering to pay so that the pub and Coffee Shop could stay open in the community centre and also paying Steph's bail for her. The neighbours quickly got to know Paul, he also bought back Lassiters from the Lamberts and No.22 from Valda who wanted to leave the street where Charlie had died. Early in the year Lana also left to return to Canada and the pupils created a memorial to her. Stingray also met Shazza and the two quickly slept together before Shazza moved on leaving Serena and Stingray to get back together. Stingray was also in for a shock when his brother Dylan arrived in town and Susan moved him into No.28 and with Dylan's past in juvenille detention Susan had to struggle to get him into school. Dylan soon formed a friendship with Sky which angered Boyd. Stingray had meanwhile split from Serena after finding out about her kiss with Boyd at the end of the previous year.
Sindi had decided to move back to exotic dancing to raise the money for Stuart's operation, and she was offered all the money she needed by spending the night with a man named Gary. She cheated him out of the money by using a coin trick that Stingray had taught her, and not sleeping with him. Stuart put two and two together and refused the money, Sindi donated it to charity and Paul ended up paying for the operation with money from his new foundation, The Helen Daniels Trust. Following his operation Stuart returned to the police force and renewed his friendship with Toadie, but Sindi was shocked when Susan started dating Gary but it wasn't long before Susan learnt about his offer to Sindi and ended things. Boyd failed Year 12 and rather than repeat it he started to work at a gym. The plans were in motion for a new Lassisters complex funded by Paul. Harold and Lou had decided to go into business together and open a Coffee Shop that also offered other serivces, and siblings Max and Izzy were to open a bar. It wasn't all joy for The Hoylands when Steph was found guilty in her trial, she was given a suspended sentence but her conviction meant that her and Max couldn't adopt. Paul had also given Izzy a loan for the bar and the two formed a bond and soon began an affair. Boyd almost rumbled the affair when Paul and Izzy where [...] together in the steam room of the gym and he words with his aunt telling her that she'd start to get a reputation.
Janelle Timmins returned to town as she now had two sons living in the street, and, determined to build a better life for her boys, stuck around, and also became Lyn's apprentice at The Salon. Lyn, now living in an empty No.26, allowed Janelle to move in and soon Dylan and Stingray joined her in the house. Boyd had been convinced by the gym manager, Krystal, to start training for body building and he became addicted to the growth hormone HGH in order to gain an advantage over his much experienced competitors. Sky and Summer became worried about Boyd especially after his behaviour became more aggressive and he started become obsessed by his food and started making himself sick. David decided to run for the council and Paul backed him but was secretly manipulating his every move. David decided to make a time capsule and everyone could record video messages, but Paul watched the video and discovered that Izzy had told everyone that Karl was not the father of her baby, Paul used this to blackmail Izzy to keep her mouth shut. Izzy had worked out that Paul had started the fire because of a matching cufflink the police found at the scene of the crime. Paul was also planning to get his revenge on Ramsay Street by knocking it down to build a supermarket for a large American chain - Affirmicon. He faked an environmental report to prove to the residents that there were rising water levels on the street and it would be better to sell their homes. Susan decided to employ Paul as business studies teacher at the school where he formed a bond with Dylan much to Sky's chagrin.
Carmella started to get spooked when she started to receive sinister gifts and it wasn't too long before she became the victim of a stalker. Toadie had become passionate about wrestling, getting Lyn to design his costume. He became The Law Man and was quite successful, here he met school teacher, Genevive Doyle whose wrestling name was Eva Destruction, the two started dating. Lassisters was re-opened with Harold and Lou's General Store and Max and Izzy's Scarlet Bar as the main attractions. Karl's surgery had also been extended to allow room for Tim Collins' law firm. Tim wasn't impressed at Toadie's choice of date but was won round after hearing Genevive sing. Janelle's two daughters Janae and Bree arrived on the scene and moved into No.26 completing the Timmins clan. Carmella later found out that her stalker was her driver Frank, a man she had trusted; she soon started to scare Connor by carrying a loaded gun around, and she was scared when Frank was released on bail. Toadie and Connor were both left heartbroken when Carmella and Genevieve left together as Carmella was going to help do PR as Eva Destruction toured America.
Janae proved to be the tearaway of the Timmins bunch. She even encountered the elusive Chris Cousens while sneaking out to a club to meet a boy, and as a whole The Timmins clan managed to bring down Cousens before anything else happened. Susan and Karl were on speaking terms again and she asked him to become school counsellor. Janae started going to Karl for advice and soon struck up a bond with him. He made Janae see that she shouldn't have to have [...] to make boys like her and this gave her more self respect, and she started to view Karl as a father figure asking him to come to see her soccer games and meet with her constantly. When he told her to see someone else, she gave Janelle the impression that Karl had come on to her and then Janae fled. Janelle blamed Janae's disappearance on Karl and reported him to the school board. Janae went back to Colac to look for Kim and confronted the woman who'd, according to Janelle, had an affair with him, instead Janae found out that her dad had never had an affair and later that Kim's wealthy parents had tried to pay Kim to stop seeing Janelle. Janae returned and saved Karl's bacon. Bree was the more quiet sister, striking up a bond with Susan over books it was only when Bree entered a spelling bee that Janelle got behind her forcing her to study constantly so that she would win the cash prize. Bree ended up taking Susan instead of her mum to the contest, but Janelle followed and told Bree that she would be proud of her no matter what. Bree ended up winning the money anyway. Inspired by Bree's love of words, Janelle started to write a book of her own, however it mainly involved her character fending of the charms of all the other men on Ramsay Street.
After the Janae fiasco, Karl began to grow suspicious of Izzy and they started to row and he went to Susan for comfort he ended up spending the night on the couch at No.28. Izzy went to confront Susan and they got into a massive argument and Susan told Izzy that Karl wanted to sleep in the bed. Karl decided to visit his father but on the way got a flat tyre, while moving the tyre, Karl started to have a heart attack, he quickly called an ambulance. But knowing this may have been his last call he called Susan to tell her he loved her, he tried to call Izzy but there was no answer. At the hospital Susan and Izzy fought over who should see Karl, Susan eventually let Izzy in and Karl and Izzy's relationship returned to normal. Max had gone off to the rigs leaving Steph alone to prove her chance as a mum but it was during this time that Boyd started suffering from paranoid delusions believing his mum was still alive. Steph still blamed this on the drugs and admitted Boyd into the psychatric ward but he escaped with help from Sky. While on the run, Boyd started fitting and Sky decided it was better to inform his family and check him into hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Boyd's condition bought all the Hoylands togther and they were soon joined by Max and Izzy's father Bobby. Max instantly dismissed his father while Izzy was overjoyed and wanted to spend as much time as possible with him, it was in her relationship with Bobby we saw why Izzy always sought attention from older men, because her own dad was always away. Bobby convinced Steph to appeal her verdict in her earlier court case and she was given the all clear and her and Max joined an adoption programme. Boyd now out of hospital, decided to break things off with Sky and they remained friends but he told her not to start dating Dylan.
When Paul started spending more time with David he started to fall for Lilijana. She fell for his charms and it was not long before Paul framed David for stealing the voters' money and this put a strain on the Bishops' marriage. Lilijana moved in with Susan and Serena stayed with her Dad. Paul's bonds with Ramsay Street became tighter as he started dating Lilijana and becoming a father figure to Dylan. It was when Dylan was exposed to nuclear waste, which had been dumped in Lassiters lake to make it appear like there was a problem with the water, that Paul felt guilty. He decided to give all the information that was needed to bring down Affirmicon to Sky and Dylan. He ran away but Affirmicon caught up with him and took him out to the bush to finish him off. Paul tried to escape but fell down a cliff and was found by Dylan. Sky thought differently of Dylan after this incident and the two started dating, leaving Boyd lonely and he decided to start a relationship with Dylan's younger sister Janae. Bobby made himself quite popular on the street and soon had slept with Lyn, Susan and Janelle. Each woman soon cottoned onto this and decided to get their revenge on Bobby by stripping him down and tying him up, Izzy witnessed this and realised her dad wasn't the person she thought he was. Another Hoyland who departed was Summer, after taking up the piano again she got a place at the presitgous boarding school - Gillard.
Seeking staff at The General Store, Harold was shocked when he came across Gabby - a spitting image for his daughter Kerry (they were played by the same actress). When Harold tried to help find Gabby's father she was so grateful that she started to kiss him. Harold left abruptly and when he showed her a picture of Kerry she realised what a big deal the kiss was to Harold. Sky started to dote on Gabby using her as the mother figure she never knew, but Harold thought this was unhealthy and paid for Gabby to return to Darwin. Steph and Max were overjoyed when the adoption agency contacted them and said that a young homeless girl named Kayla was looking for parents for her unborn baby, she accepted their offer. Soon Max and Steph saw Kayla begging and broke the rules by invinting her to No.32, where she struck up a bond with Boyd and when the baby was born, Boyd was in the delivery room with her and the two shared a kiss. Boyd suggested the idea that they raise the baby boy together and Kayla agreed angering Max and Steph, and Boyd moved out. A mysterious blonde came to The General Store asking for Lou. Harold didn't recognise her but in fact it was Annalise Hartman. With help from Susan, Annalise found Lou and told him she was shooting a film about Ramsay Street. Izzy was in for a shock when Darcy came round from his coma, pretending not to remember what had happened, but he then started to blackmail her, and Karl and Susan were shocked when Izzy gave Darcy a glowing character reference and he left town, but not before writing Susan a letter about what Izzy had done. Susan confronted Izzy and told her that she had twenty-four hours to tell Karl that he wasn't the father of Izzy's baby. She told him that Gus was the father but only because he forced himself on her. Paul was also in for a shock when he woke up in hospital and found out that one of his legs had been removed and refused to wear the prosthetic leg that had been made for him.
As Neighbours celebrated twenty years, old faces came back to watch Annalise's film. Lucy Robinson came to visit Paul in hospital as did Rosemary Daniels. Rosemary tried to convince Paul to sign Lassisters over to her as he had nothing to live with, while Lucy told him to stop feeling so sorry for himself. Philip Martin and Doug Willis returned to play a prank on Lou, Lance Wilkinson returned but was shocked to find that Toadie had essentially replaced him with Connor and Joe Mangel also appeared to visit Sky and all were in town to watch the film. 20th anniversary week also saw a culmination of a few plots as Kayla and Boyd grew closer and he moved out. Karl also overheard Izzy tell Max the truth about Gus and threw her out of the flat. Paul regained his self-confidence, told Lou that he was moving into No.22 and also got into a row with Philip about the financial mess that Paul had landed his former brother-in-law in. Annalise's film was full of appearances from old characters such as all the Kennedy children, the Stark children, Gail Robinson, Tom Ramsay, Marlene Kratz, Sarah Beaumont, Felicity Scully, Melanie Pearson, Nina Tucker and many more. While all the old faces moved away from town Joe Mangel stuck around to spend more time with Sky and also to begin romancing Lyn. Max and Steph went to visit the father of Kayla's baby and found out that he knew nothing about a child and the two reconciled however because of their interference in Kayla's case. Max and Steph were taken off the adoption programme but Steph was overjoyed when she became pregnant on her own. Following the incident with Paul, David and Lilijana sorted out their differences and reunited.
Stuart and Sindi's relationship became more serious and he met a friend from her childhood Kelly who was in a wheelchair and Sindi visited from time to time and it turned out that Sindi had been accused of putting her in the wheelchair, out of nowhere Sindi proposed to Stuart and he accepted. After clashing a few times Alex and Susan began dating. Joe and Lyn's relationship went from strength to strength and he moved in with her and No.26 although he began to clash with Janelle and found the book that she'd been writing about Ramsay Street and sent it to everyone, after finding the house in an awful mess she sent the whole Timmins family packing and they went to live in a bus on the caravan park where they were joined by Lou who'd been kicked out by Paul. Eventually the Timmins' moved the bus back outside No.26 and they were soon back indoors and Lou moved in with Harold. After her affair with Paul was revealed she was left heartbroken and with no friends and family to support her she turned to Paul who took her in.
By Stuart's Buck Night, Toadie had become really suspicious of Sindi but Stuart put it down to jealousy and the fact that the wedding was stirring up old memories of his own wedding to Dee. When they went out, Toadie was sure he saw Sindi spying on them in the dark hair but when he couldn't retrieve the video evidence of the event the wedding went ahead. Toadie later got the video and went to find Stuart and Sindi on their honeymoon, Sindi confronted him and when he told her he was going to tell Stuart everything she flipped out and pushed Toadie down the stairs. Stuart realised that Sindi needed help and she later confessed to having been in Susan's car and putting Kelly in the wheelchair. While in a psychiatric hospital she told Staurt she wanted an annulment but Stuart wanted to fight for his marriage and said no. Stuart began to throw himself into work while his bosses told him to take it easy. Stuart's brother Ned came to try and help his brother chill out and moved in with him at No.30. Toadie had also been given a failing bikini shop by a client and put Connor in charge, when a help wanted sign was posted Serena answered and her and Connor started to bicker, when the bikini shop needed more funding, Serena decided to put the money that her grandmother had given her and went 50/50 with Toadie. She began to develop feelings for Connor but Connor realised that she was young and that David wouldn't be pleased. He eventually gave into temptation when they spent a night together in a hotel following a conference. David found out about the relationship and wanted Serena to break it off but she moved in with Connor at No.30.
Paul's daughter Elle moved to the area and took an instant dislike to Izzy, she began drugging Izzy's food and when she was found out she was almost sent back to her mother but Paul had a change of heart and let her stay with him. Desperate to help his daughter, Connor turned to Carmella who said she'd give him the money but started to blackmail him into dumping Serena, Connor eventually got tired of this and stole from the bikini shop, but Carmella folded and gave Connor the money, making it seem like the burglars had returned the money but Serena put two and two together and broke things off with Connor.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lassisters a plane flight was organised to take people from Erinsborough to Lassister's casino in Hogarth. Izzy, Elle, Paul, David, Serena, Lilijana and Sky were all set to go, Karl was given tickets but gave them to Alex and Susan. Dylan who had planned the trips and was trying to flee the cops also boarded the plane and Connor who'd been found out was also their getting icy gazes from Serena. As the plane flew over the Bass Straits, Izzy opened a note adressed to her simply saying 'for all that you have done' suddenly a bomb exploded and the plane blew up. Serena and Connor were floating together on a piece of plane in the icy water as the other Ramsay Street residents listened to the radio reports - Paul, Elle, Sky and Izzy were found instantly, Alex was found later on the same night. The next day Connor and Dylan both had washed up to shore, with Serena dead and on the run from the law, Connor decided it was best that he faked his own death so that Maddy would get her operation with the money he left to her, Dylan believing that Sky was dead and also a fugitive decided to join him. Back in Erinsborough another person was found an unidentified female body it turned out to be Susan, who shared a long lingering gaze with Karl before enjoying a passionate embrace with Alex. Joe figuring life was too short proposed to Lyn and she accepted, but just as they started planning the wedding, Toby needed help back on the farm and Joe promising to stay faithful to Lyn left town. Meanwhile Harold was in denial believing that his family were all still alive he was heartbroken when David's body was found.
With news of the plane crash, The Timmins father Kim came to town wanting to make peace with his kids in the wake of the tragedy and to plan a memorial for Dylan. As Stingray was in the car with Dylan when he robbed the store he was charged with the robbery and faced jail time. While Connor and Dylan were on the run they found an old newspaper and when Dylan saw that Sky was still alive he decided to go back to Ramsay Street. The pair went to No.26 and started to eat before Dylan noticed the leaflet for his memorial service and went to were it was being held, as Dylan crashed his own service Connor begged Dylan not to reveal he was still alive. Stingray and Dylan were sent down for the robbery but during the trial, Dylan told Toadie who was representing him that Connor was still alive. Harold eventually took Connor in when he found him living on the streets and the two who were both grieving found solace in each other. When Roo was sent to the same prison as the Timmins brothers he decided to make their life a living hell but Stuart had gone in undercover and began to start winning Roo's trust. Stingray had been fixing radios and Stuart convinced him to put a microphone in one of the radios and put it in Roo's room, however Roo had recognised Stuart and organised a riot to trap him, Stuart and Stingray escaped but Roo trapped him and threatened to kill him, Dylan forced Roo to admit to all his former crimes including the roberry and this was caught on tape by the microphone in the radio and Dylan and Stingray were set free.
As Steph's pregnancy went on she started having dreams about Drew Kirk and when they started to turn [...] she thought that the baby's life was in danger. Drew came back and told her that it was her who was in danger and tragically her cancer had returned. During a fight with Rachel, Alex blurted out that he didn't want Rachel to turn out like her sister. Alex had to explain that he had another child a daughter named Katya who he'd kicked out when she was sixteen for putting his two other children in danger. Susan was horrified at Alex and the two almost split but Alex decided to find Katya to apologise to her before he died. When Karl did a check-up on Alex he found out that he only had days to live and as his condition began to get worse, Susan realised he couldn't leave the house. They decided to have their wedding at No.28 and when Susan couldn't find Steph and Lyn to be witnesses Karl stepped in and just before the ceremony began Katya turned up and Alex apologised. - 2006: 2006 was one of the most dramatic years. It marked the return of Steph's breast cancer in the middle of her long desired pregnancy. It also marked the return of Paul's 'evil' son Robert disguising as his brother Cameron. Robert is the person who put the bomb on the plane and the one who blackmailed Izzy. Many dramatic storylines involved Katya Kinski and her troubled past. The only newcomers were Sebastian Barnes, Frazer Yeats, Pepper Steiger and Rosetta Cammeniti. Connor O'Neill was presumed murdered, but we find out in 2007 that he was actually in China. Stuart Parker, Izzy Hoyland, Lyn Scully and Oscar Scully also left, and Max Hoyland was driven insane (by Elle Robinson) and left the show for the rest of 2006, briefly returning in 2007. Sky was revealed to be pregnant and the father of her new daughter was unconfirmed but Dylan was eventually confirmed as the father.
