Stephen George Brown
Stephen George Brown was an Australian rugby league player. He played junior football for NewtownRugby League club in Toowoomba and Souths Rugby League Club in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast. He played first grade Rugby League for PalmwoodsRugby League Club on the Sunshine Coast under coach Gary Pearson. He moved to Brisbane in 1983 where he played third grade, reserve grade and first grade for Northern SuburbsRugby League Club under coach Ray Cattanach, Bob Poulsen & Barry Muir.
In 1984 he sustained a shoulder injury and after recovering took up an offer in 1985 to play for Newtown Rugby League Club in Toowoomba after a successful year with Newtown winning the grand final and being named man of the match in that game he stayed with that club until 1987.Played for Toowoomba against Eastern Suburbs Rugby League Club Sydney in that same year and was a regular in the Toowoomba Rugby League squad in the mid eighties.
After a very short stay in Sydney went back to Newtown in 1989 then retired, he then coached in the junior ranks for Norths BanyoRugby Leagu Club in Brisbane before returning to Newtown in Toowoomba again in 1992 & 1993. In 1993 he coached the Newtown Reserve Grade team before retiring once more,in 1997 he came out of retirement to captain & coach the Longreach Thompson Tigers who also won the Central West title that year in that game Stephen also scored a try to help his side to the title.
Stephen then retired from the game until 2002 when he began coaching the Beachmere Pelicans in the Sunshine Coast second division competition, in 2003 once again coaching Beachmere Stephen took them to their first ever title.
After the 2003 season Stephen retired once more but in 2010 was coaxed back to coach the Beachmere Pelicans in the Sunshine Coast Third grade competition.
