St. Andrew Rowing Club
St. Andrew Rowing Club (SARC) is a crew team in northeast Atlanta dedicated to youth athletes. Also known as Saint Andrew Rowing Club, St. Andrew RC, or SA.
History
SA was founded in 1988 as part of the rental agreement between St. Andrew Catholic Church and Ga Tech, in addition to a $1/year rental fee. It is strictly secular, and draws its rowers from over twenty public and private schools in the Atlanta area. It has sent several boats to USRowing National Youth Championships. In 2005 it sent three boats, including a women's four that placed third. Before then, only one boat had made it to Grand Finals. In 2006, the team sent a Women's Varsity 8+, a Men's Lightweight 4+, which placed 10th, and a Men's Lightweight 8+, which placed 9th. In 2007, the team qualified four boats. They included a Men's Lightweight 8+, a Men's Lightweight 4+, a Women's Lightweight 8+, and a Women's Varsity 4+. The Men's Lightweight 8+ placed 4th overall.
