Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School was founded in 1970 and was blessed by His Holiness Sri Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Shri. K.S.Narayanan, Chairman Emeritus, Chemplast Sanmar Ltd., is the Chairman and Shri.V.S.Dandapani is the Managing Trustee of The INDIAN Education Trust which manages the school.
AbOUT
Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School is located in Adyar, Chennai, amidst sylvan and serene surroundings and opposite to the theosophical society . It is a Co-educational institution with a strength of nearly 2000 students and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school has classes from Kindergarten to Std. XII. The school has been producing cent percent results in the Board Examinations consecutively for nearly a quarter century. They are handled by a highly qualified staff and personalized individual attention to the students is the hallmark of the institution. The School offers combinations of subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio Technology, Information Practices, C++ in the Science Stream and Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Mathematics, Entrepreneurship and Geography in the Commerce Stream in the XI and XII Standards. Apart from Sanskrit, Hindi and Tamil, the school offers French also as second language at the Secondary level.
The current Principal is Mrs.Subala Ananthanarayanan, succeeded Mrs.Ramaswaminathan as the Principal.
The school has received the International School Award from the British Council in 2006. Sri Sankara has also received the ISO 9001:2000 accreditation in January 2008.

Senior Secondary
Inter -School Culturals named as SMARANEEYAM is conducted every year successfully. Many school students participate in the various events like Quiz, Adzap, Crossword Puzzle, Interview, Poster Making, Fashion designing to name a few.
Various competitions are conducted for Sankara school children named as Intra-School Culturals (Talent Fest) to develop competitive spirit and encourage their talents.
The students publish News Letters twice a year bringing across various happenings in the school, Competitions participated ,prize winners list etc. Thus parents and well wishers are informed about the achievements of the students.
Project exhibitions are organized every year to bring forth the talents of students. The exhibitions are appreciated by visiting school students, teachers and parents.
Clubs

They are handled by a highly qualified staff and personalized individual attention to the students is the hallmark of the institution. The school has been maintaining a high standard of excellence in the academic field and in every sphere of school activity. The school has been producing cent percent results in the Board Examinations consecutively for nearly a quarter century.
The unique feature of Sri Sankara School is that it symbolises the ideals of education expressed in and through moral and spiritual values, discipline and character, appreciation of our cultural heritage and cultivation of genuine devotion to God, respect to Guru, Parents and elders. Sanskrit, the repository of our culture is given a special status in this school. This is a pioneering institution in the propagation of Sanskrit and special sloka classes are arranged for the children.
Academics is the stronghold of the school. Apart from the introduction of Computer Science as a subject from III onwards, keeping in trend with the global scene, we have computer-based learning at all levels.
To provide an overall development of the students, various co-curricular activities like Yoga, Karate, Music and Dance are conducted for children. A student counselor has been appointed to ensure emotional security to the students.
Rules & Regulations
NOTE: As per the official site
1. Students should appear in the school uniform. Failure to do so will be viewed seriously.
2. Students must be inside the school premises ten minutes before the first bell.
Late attendance will recorded in the late attendance record.
3. Students with dirty uniform, uncombed hair, dirty finger nails etc.
will come for serious censure.
4. Student’s behaviour towards the teacher and the elders should be marked
by respect and obedience.
5. Students should be regular in their class work, homework and assignments .
Any neglect in this regard will be considered as a serious misconduct
calling for severe action.
6. All the students should converse only in English in the school premises
to acquire greater facility in the fluency of the language.
7. Severe disciplinary action will be taken against those who continuously
misbehave or indulge in nefarious activities. They may be expelled from the school.
Guidelines for parents
NOTE: Information as per official website
1. Parents must ensure that their children do not wear costly jewels.
2. Parents can bring to the notice of the authorities any special difficulty
deficiency the child may have for suitable remedial measures to be undertaken.
3. If the parents wish to see the children during the school hours they are
requested to get the permission from the principal. This practice will
minimize disturbance to the class work.
4. Parents are requested to instruct the escorts or servants who visit the
school not to get into the class room when class is in progress. They
may wait near the office to receive the children when the session is over.
5. As the medium of instruction in the school is English, children should
be helped to follow their class easily and intelligently by a certain
amount of regular English conversation at home.
