Spit for Athena
Spit For Athena (sometimes called SFA) started as a three-piece band in Coldwater, Michigan. Levi Bailey (guitar/vocals), Melanie Cumming (bass), and Matt Budd (drums) started playing shows around local venues, such as Air Time Skate Park and Arcadia Brewery (in Battle Creek) and the B.E. Henry building in Marshall. After Melanie left the band, Mark Larmee (of Hornet) took her place. They also added a fourth member, Dan Staddon. Spit For Athena continues to perform throughout Michigan and the mid-west. Discography:

Biography
Bailey and Budd started Spit For Athena in 2001, and shortly after, asked Cumming to join. Their first shwo was on September 15, 2001 at the Branch County Fairgrounds. They recorded their demo in Battle Creek, Michigan with local musician/producer/promoter, Dan Barry. They rarely charged money for their demo, giving it away at shows and to friends.
While playing a show at the Arcadia Brewing Company in Battle Creek, SFA met two bands Today I Wait and Two Stars Burning Sun who told them AbOUT Friction Records. SFA decided to record an album to present to Jeff Vandenberg at Friction Records. Today I Wait's bassist Bart, and Walls Of Jericho's Mike Hasty told them about Cloud City, a recording studio in Detroit.
They sent their finished album to Vandenberg, despite their close friends' criticisms (they said the vocal overdubbing was too much, and thought the album sounded fake). Vandenberg liked what he heard, and the album was released the following May, in 2003. Their unofficial release party was held in Grand Rapids at Stooge's. They played with Two Stars Burning Sun and Halos For Martyrs (both of which were also on Friction Records).
In August 2003, Spit For Athena returned to Cloud City Studios to record a follow-up to their self-titled debut. The album made would later be titled, "Extermina.."
