All entrants used Van Diemen RF86 chassis with a Scholar engine. The first Championship was a series of 4 races only held at Jarama (Madrid) and Jerez. 12 of the 20 chassis used by the 1986 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch UK were sold in August 1986

1988 Championship results note new chassis and new engine preparation companies were allowed to enter - Van Diemen FF88 and Reynard 88F chassis appeared and Minister and Auriga were the new engine preparation companies to enter the Spanish Market
