Sozialamt

The concept of social welfare is the colloquial term for a body in Germany , which according to § 28 para 2 First Book of the Social Code (SGB I) for the responsibilities of welfare after the Twelfth Book of the Social Code (SGB XII) and other social issues is often responsible. The term "social welfare" is used in the organization of local government only partially, it is often called "the Office for Youth and Family", "Department of Social Services and Housing", etc.

Social welfare in the local and supra-local institutions can be distinguished. The execution of SGB XII is a matter of countries that also determine what authority the duties of the supra-local social welfare institution is responsible. In North Rhine-Westphalia, these are organizations such as the landscape, in Baden-Wuerttemberg the Municipal Association of Youth and Social Affairs and in Hesse, the state welfare association.
