Sororicide (band)
Sororicide is a death metal band from Iceland formed in 1989. The name means "The act of [...] one's own sister." Their only full-length album, The Entity, was released in 1991. The band subsequently issued two split albums, shared with other bands. The band split up in 1995, but came back together in the summer of 2000, although in a quite different style.
Early career
Sororicide was formed by bassist Gisli and guitarist Gaui. The band originally played Thrash Metal, playing their first gig in June. The band was brought to national attention after winning a band contest in 1991 with the name Infusoria.
Recording career
After signing to Platonic Records, an Icelandic recording company, in 1991, they released their only official LP (As of 2007). Shortly after, the group began recording again in the studio in March, which were featured on the compilation album Apocalypse. In 1993, the two founders of the band brought in two new members, Arnar (guitar) and Unnar (drums), to record for Rising Realm Records. It ended up being released in 1994, split with Chorus Of RUiN.
Recent
Reforming in 2000, Sororicide played the Reyjavik Music Festival with two guitarists of the band Mínus.
