Sophie Mullen
Sophie Lluba Mullen (born March 28 1991) is an English model, actress and former child fashion model. She is of English, Scottish, and Russian descent.
Biography
Early life
Mullen was born in London, England to a Scottish father, and an English mother. She lived in Hong Kong until she was seven years old, when she moved back to London. She is a distant niece of Alexandra of Hesse and by Rhine, and is a cousin to the Empress' daughter, the notorious Grand Duchess Anatasia. Her great-grandmother, HIH Grand Duchess Marie-Christine, lived in Russia during the First World War and then migrated to Mallorca, Spain. She has two older brothers. She is passionately called Sobie by her family and friends.
Career
Mullen modeled as a child and was signed with Ford Models. She began her acting career at the age of nine with a role as one of the children in a production of Mary Poppins in London's West End. She has appeared in numerous magazines including Teen Vogue, Elle Girl and Cosmo Girl, and was the face of fashion designer Gap at the age of 11. Since then she has appeared in several films, including Jack and Sarah and Titanic. She also had a non-credited appearance in the 2000 film Bring it On.
Trivia
- As of 2007, Mullen is set to appear in the Luella Bartley's show at Claridges during London Fashion Week.
- Mullen had originally wanted to be a marine biologist prior to becoming a model. She had just completed her GCSE studies and achieved 7 A*s and 3 As. She is currently studying her A-Levels.
- In an interview with Elle Girl in 2007, Mullen acknowledged the problem of eating disorders in the fashion industry, and argues that "anorexia and bulimia are real diseases people suffer, not triggered by someone they spot on a magazine".
