Snapt

Snapt is a British smartphone app, designed by comparethemarket.com, that helps households save money on their energy bill. 84% of households have not switched energy providers and one of the main reasons is that energy bills are confusing to understand. Snapt removes the complexity, and in an industry first, a user does not need to enter their details to compare; the comparison is done from a photo of an energy bill. Take a picture of an energy bill and comparthemarket.com will return the best quotes in 10 minutes, straight to the smartphone.

How IT Works

Currently available on the iPhone, snapt removes the need to understand energy bills or answer long-winding questions on comparison sites. All a user needs to do is take a picture of energy bill, gas or electricity or both, submit it through the app. A team then analyses the bill and the best deals are sent straight to the phone, ready to view in 10 minutes. It's straightforward and households can save up to £350.

Upon receiving the best deals, the user can decide to switch through their mobile, over the phone or on the comparethemarket.com website. Then it takes a matter of weeks to start seeing the savings coming through.

Accolades

The media has taken to Snapt favourably, with The Sun making it their app of the week. MSN, have also voted Snapt as one of the best new apps in January.

Recently, at the 2014 UK Mobile and App Design Awards, Snapt won best app in financial information and tools.

The app is available for download on iTunes store, currently rating at 4.5 stars.
