Sky castles (fiction)
A sky castle is a mythical object that floats, flies, or hovers over the ground below. It is able to defend itslelf and is almost entirely independant of supplies from the ground.
What makes a Sky castle
The making of a sky castle is a hard process if it is to be built on the ground. It is easier to build sky castles on a skeletor structure that is already in flight.
A sky castle needs all the following for it to be able to fly, to survive, and to defend itself. Soil, trees, housing, defensive structures, and floatation devices are all needed to keep a sky castle in the air and independant of the ground.
Floatation
A sky castle needs a floatation device and any of the these might surpass.
- fans , magnet or dolomite , magic or sorcerery , anti-gravity or levitation device , and/or jet-engine or turbine
Housing
The housing for a sky castle needs to be able to withstand high winds, low tempeture, storms, and other stratical disasters. Such housing will have to reguire costly energy to fuel such needs. The houses have to have modern day conveinences to survive such weather. Wood and steel are mostly used in these processes and are a good source since they are easily found on the ground. A.C. and heating are often a must for the survival of cold or hot climates.
Defensive Structure
In order for a sky castle to survive an attack it must have a wall, towers, and anti-aircraft weapons. Since these are what the regular sky town needs and has it is durable to just to upgrade buildings such as bell-towers and others tall buildings to protect the city. But the defenition of sky city is a defendable floating landmass that has extensions of towers, walls, and a force able to defend itself properly.
Structures are nessecarily built of stone, steel, or wood depending on how the bugdet or of the resources available. Steel is the best to go with since it is light, strong, and easy to construct from.
Sky castles need to be able to defend themselves from every possible angle, if not the invaders can easily enter the walls.
Gates are good for civilian uses but in a seige it is obvious that the enemy can just go over them. It is not required but if you have the firepower and all other requirements are good then you may want to make a gate for either luxury or design.
Structurization
The Building of a sky castle is normally built as a dome with the concave side facing upwards and everything laid in and on the soil that is held in by the bowl.
Main Structure
Simple sky castles have no subterrain vessels leaving all the power supplies and important structures above the soil, vulnerable to attack. Sky castles that have a rich system often have walls around the edges to decrease erosion. The interior of the vessels have all the power facilities and some housing, commerce, and etc. within and underneath the soil so that if aircraft were to overcome the hovering landmass that it wouldn't destroy the very source of the floatation of the city.
Ventalation
Ventalation is a key factor in keeping the sky castle in prime condition since it allows cooling of the machinary and also serves as a anti-ground structure weapon. These vents should always face downwards so that the rain won't cause eroision on the castle from underneath it. Ventataltion can also be an acheleas heal if not gaurded securly or built properly if attack were to raid the castle.
Structural Branches
Branching off the sky castle is a possibility if the city within is too crowded. They can also serve as outer towers for around 270 degrees of DeFence. These structures can also weigh down the city or tip it over if not correctly built or balanced. Branchings need to have there own source of levitation to keep them from weighing down and toppling.
