Skirmish at the Old Town Belltower

The Battle of the Alley was a massive, high-casualty military clash during the War of Old Town, remembered as a brutal collision between the empires of the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) and the Locust Horde.

Fought within the suffocating, narrow choke points of Old Town's primary alleyway sector, the battle pitted thousands of frontline COG Gears against an immense Locust Vanguard Legion. The Locust defense was orchestrated by a deadly command duo consisting of a heavily armored Grenadier Elite and a tactical Locust Spotter, who used the high ground to rain devastating mortar and heavy fire onto advancing COG lines.

Despite suffering severe initial casualties from the ambush, COG forces rallied under the direct, aggressive field command of Sergeant Marcus Fenix. Leading a desperate bayonet and Lancer charge directly through the center of the choke point, Fenix personally breached the enemy command nest, eliminating both the Grenadier Elite and the Spotter in close-quarters combat. The death of their leadership shattered the Locust hive mind link in the sector, causing the remaining Horde forces to completely break formation and route, handing a decisive strategic victory to the COG.
