Simon Young (musician)
Simon Young is a known musician in the United States who runs Populuxe Entertainment. He was also the bass player for The Stivs, a legendary punk band in the United States. Currently, he leads asian-rock phenomonom The Slants, is the CEO of Populuxe Entertainment, and works with artists such as Darlington, Zolar X, The Strangers Six, among other up and coming rock bands.
Biography
Simon Young used to be CEO of SBG Records in San Diego, CA and worked with Various Artists, promotional agencies, and record labels. He was also the frontman and guitarist for local heroes, The Rockaway Teens. In 1999, SBG Records became Populuxe Entertainment when Young relocated the company to Murrieta, CA. It was during that time that he opened a store with Perla Cabral (now known as Perla Rouge, pin-up model and wife of Dez Cadena). They enjoyed success for a number of years as an artist representation company.
In 2004, Simon moved to Portland, OR to join The Stivs. After several albulms with the band (TBIL Revisited and Sweet Heartache and the Satisfaction), several music videos, and tours, Simon left to found The Slants. He currently resides in Portland, OR and is heavily involved with the music industry in the United States and Asia.
Obscure Trivia
- While in The Stivs, Simon Young appeared on The Price is Right, a game show with Bob Barker.
- Simon has also appeared in several films in the U.S, mostly in works by indie director Geoffery Gagner.
- Simon Young also created a line of signature, custom basses. Each one bears his signature in gold across the head, and as pearl inlays.
- In 2006, Simon was On the Television show MBM (Milwaukie's Best Music).
- Simon has also won several competitive eating contests in the Northwest.
