Silobreaker Limited is a UK company based in London that develops Silobreaker.com, an automated news search service which uses semantic and statistical algorithms to provide contextualized search results through graphical representations. Silobreaker’s product development is done by a team of computer engineers out of its office in Stockholm, Sweden, including Silobreaker’s Chief Systems Architect, Jimmy Mårdell, who is a former winner of the Google Code Jam.

Services

Silobreaker.com analytically processes news content from thousands of sources with algorithms that perform information extraction, cluster analysis, pattern recognition, taxonomic classification and relational analysis in addition to search engine indexing. The results are presented in the user interface through graphical representations of networks, hot spot maps, trend-charts and “in-focus” entity-lists. Users get contextualized views of search results and can navigate, expand or narrow their searches without having to type in new search terms. The search result pages look similar to an online newspaper but top-stories are automated, without human editing, based on relevance-measures, time filters and the size of a news event as determined by the number of sources reporting from it.
