Sherwood Carthen

Bishop Sherwood C. Carthen is the senior pastor of [Bayside of South Sacramento]Bayside of South Sacramento and the founder and director of the Our Family Community Foundation, specializing in wellness, wholeness, and faith. He is ACTIVE nationally in such causes as tobacco education and substance abuse prevention, and in the Sacramento community’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. He is also chaplain for the National Basketball Association’s Sacramento Kings. Bishop Carthen received a degree in theology and an honorary D.Div. in the field of interdenominational service from the Mount Zion Institute and Bible Seminary. Bishop Carthen is very active as a community leader all around metropolitan Sacramento. He hails from the business community where he worked in management for the California Department of Motor Vehicles. He holds numerous degrees and honors. Due to his strong charismatic presence and dedication to the Lord, Bishop receives numerous requests to speak around the country at men’s conferences and retreats.
