Shaun Marcus
Shaun Marcus (born Shaun Rasmussen) is an African American model, singer, dancer and community organizer. Shaun Marcus is known for his energetic stage performances with the dance group Cheryl Byron and Something Positive. In 2005, he became the face of Coskel University clothing. Since signing on to represent the Coskel University brand, he has become a successful runway model and has appeared in Coskel University's national and international print ad campaigns.
Personal life
Shaun Marcus (born Shaun Marcus Rasmussen) was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His mother was born in Trinidad & Tobago and his father in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Shaun Marcus has both Afro-Caribbean and Danish ancestry. He attended Middle College High School at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, where he met the artistic director of Cheryl Byron and Something Positive during a STEP team rehearsal. According to Marcus, "Michael Manswell was doing a dance workshop at my school. While I was waiting for my own rehearsal to begin he looked at me and said "Get up and dance." I was very shy and quietly said "I'm sorry, I'm not here for that." He said "I don't care, get up and dance." I danced and I loved every minute of it."
Shaun Marcus was a member of the Upward Bound Program at Pace University's Center for Urban Education. He attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York CUNY. At John Jay College, Shaun Marcus participated in College productions and was a member of the International Criminal Justice Society. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Criminal Justice. He has worked on public programming with National organizations such as Community Works, African Burial Ground National Monument, and The African Burial Ground Monument Foundation. Shaun Marcus also volunteers his time to causes with the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International and Equality Now.
